Role: Director, Producer, Writer, Editor 2nd Unit Camera, Props/Set Design American Chop Suey is Nathan's first comedy. Much of the film was written together with David, and they both threw ideas back and forth for a long time before settling on the actual scenes. Nathan is an avid Stephen Chow fan, and to create a Chinese based comedy was a dream come true for him. He also studiedMandarin Chinese for a year, and lived in Taiwan for almost 2 years, so his influence for the film was also very rooted in Asian culture and interest. His sense of humor was complimented by David's, so writing a comedy was almost the easiest part of production for American Chop Suey. This film would be his 3rd short film being in the Director's chair, and he admits I learned an awful lot about myself through the whole process. I am learning to speak my mind a bit more, thats incredibly important when you are Directing. No one can read your mind. If you want things done a certain way you have to learn to communicate it properly. It has helped me grow outside of film as well, I am learning to be more out going and sociable. Its been an experience...I'll probably write a retrospective blog about it." Nathan is available for Directing, Writing, Editing, Camera work, boom operator, and any other film positions. Feel free to contact him with any inquiries. |
